[interview] DSCO CAM - Ready to make Park Acoustics dance

We took a brief moment to have a chat with DSCO CAM, who will be rocking some disco tunes this Sunday at Park Acoustics, taking into the summer sunset over beautiful Pretoria. Here is what we chatted about:

Interview: DSCO CAM

MA: Do you mind starting with a quick 101 on who DSCO Cam is? Where in SA are you from and how did you get started in the music scene?

I’m from Pretoria and got started in the music scene by playing a few house parties for the brand King of the Communes, I later played for them at a stage takeover at Mieliepop festival.

After that everything started moving forward for me.

MA: What are some of your musical influences?

Todd Terje, Motor city drum ensemble and Joey Negro.

MA: Do you have any major highlights in your musical career thus far?

I have a few but I’d say closing park acoustics on the 31st of March is going to come out on top.

MA: What are your thoughts of our local music scene at the moment?

Coming from Pretoria I’d say I’m quite happy with where it’s going. It has a lot of potential and I’m excited that more and more people are opening up to different genres. There’s a lot of room to be different.

MA: Any acts/bands/artists that you think need a special mention?

Really liking Hello Beautiful at the moment.

MA: You will be playing at Park Acoustics event this month…. Are you excited for the gig? What can we expect from your set?

Looking so forward to the gig! You can expect a smorgasbord of everything disco, electronic and house. A lot of old and new with a touch of Donna Summer.
