We chat to Camilo Franco (Spain) ahead of his gig at Shimmy Beach

As part of Shimmy Beach’s crazy Summer madness, they are bringing some top DJs from around the world to do their thing and make your holiday just that little bit more awesome! One of the international talents heading to SA goes by the name of Camilo Franco, born in Colombia but permanently based in Spain this gentleman has been hitting the decks at some of the most exclusive parties and events. With his characteristic South American style Camilo Franco is very versatile in his style and will get his groove by feeding off the energy from the crowd, This festive season, you can be one of those people in the crowd getting down to the sweet house sounds put out by Camilo Franco. We had the opportunity to chat to him ahead of his trip to SA, this is how it went down

MA: Hi Camilo, thanks for your time. Please tell us a little bit more about yourself?

Hi, how are you? 🙂

Well I was born in Bogota ( Colombia ) and when I was a kid I moved to Spain, so basically I was raised  in Spain, but I’m 100% South American. I come from a family full of musicians that  introduced me to music since I was very young and I started playing as a deejay with vinyl when I was 14 years old, playing some acid house in the beginning and then I ended up with house music.

MA: You have been rocking dancefloors all around the world for quite some time now, what has been the most memorable moment in your career this far?

Well there is not only one most memorable moment…. I had many of them, but if have to choose one I have to say  when I  played in Salvador de Bahia ( Brazil ) for the Carnival in front of about one million people dancing and jumping in front of me….. that was really epic!!

MA: How would you best describe your sound?

I can tell my sound is basically house music in all of its ways. I can play  deep house, tech house and some energetic progressive house but always with the house essence.

MA: Are you excited to be coming to South Africa? Have you been here before?

I can not describe how exited I am …. Yes I’ve been in SA before and I really loved it. The people are just amazing, so happy, friendly and lovely,  and the crowd at the party was one of the best crowds I  ever had.

MA: What can we expect from your set at Shimmy Beach?

A lot of PARTY!!! As always say, I love make the people screaming so that’s exactly what I will do. I will play energetic, uplifting and groovy house music with the original touch of Ibiza.

MA: If you are not busy making music, what are you most likely doing?

I love hanging out with friends for a proper lunch or dinner, or just chilling with them,  also I play some sport.

MA: Have you heard any strange stories about South Africa? What are you expecting from the country?

Well I have a very good friend in Spain from Cape Town and she told me some stories but nothing  very strange in my opinion, but what she always told me is that people from SA are the best!!!

MA: Where can people follow you?
