As you may well know by now, Vodacom In The City is pretty much the coolest annual concert held deep in the city of Jozi, a few years down the line and these guys are yet to disappoint us! For the 2014 installment, they have already announced a killer line-up featuring Rudimentals, MGMT and Crystal Fighters. Last week Friday the people at Seed Experiences decided that this line-up was missing something (really??) So, what they did was to announce yet another international act, The Presets! But just who are the Presets?

Dynamic Australian electronic duo The Presets have been recognised worldwide for their incredible live performances, playing hundreds of shows and key slots at renowned music festivals like Glastonbury, Coachella, Exit, Melt, Parklife and Splendour in The Grass. Now The Presets are confirmed to blow the roof off at Vodacom In The City in Newtown on 3 October 2014.

Julian Hamilton and Kim Moyes met while pursuing a mutual interest in contemporary music, where they then joined the instrumental, experimental band Prop, and in 2003 formed the more techno, dance focused duo The Presets. The band quickly became recognised for their ability to fuse elements of dance music with energy more akin to that of a rock ’n’ roll show. Their single, “My People” is the longest charting single in Australian chart history.

After releasing three landmark albums in the last 10 years with 2005’s Beams, 2008’s Apocalypso and 2012’s Pacifica, 2014 sees The Presets regroup, refocus and refine while 2014’s ‘No Fun’ sets The Presets on a nihilist path to techno decadence.
