We love finding new talented people to showcase here on our site, which is exactly what we got when we met Mario Pires. He is a talented artist who is working really hard to get his work out to the public. As you may know, being an artist is not the easiest of fields, which has Mario even more determined and committed to get his work out there. Have a look at this interview we did with him…
Q: Hey Mario, How you doing mate?
A: Hi there apples, always well.
Q: Can you give us a bit of background on you as an artist and what it is actually that you do?
A: I am a full-time graphic designer for a fashion house. My interest in art, and in learning to use different mediums, was reignited about three years ago; as a creative outlet and as a means to pay the bills!
Q: What is your main design/artistic focus?
A: I am currently focusing on acquiring new techniques and artistic skills in an effort to create a unique signature in my painting and in my sketches.
Q: What inspires you in your work?
A: My surroundings, my friends and family, my adventures in life and the images I see.
Q: Where can we see your art and possibly buy one of your awesome pieces?
A:I am currently only on Facebook – https://www.facebook.com/MarioPiresArt.
Anyone is welcome to inbox me with enquiries.
Q: What has you most excited about our local industry in general and the market?
A: I think our local industry is full of talented individuals in all forms. Seeing local guys making it big and being recognized all around the world is inspiring.
Q:To date, what has been your best achievement?
A: As I am new to the industry, my biggest achievement has to be the positive reaction from mixed apples and from The Precinct 23; a local event which promotes artist comedians and great food (thanks guys -much appreciated!)
Q: Are you working on any other projects that we might be interested in?
A: I am currently working on two projects. One is of a large chess board (hint, hint) and the second is morphed female portraits which I am finishing off for a charity event.
Q: Where do you see yourselves in 5 years time career wise?
A: Art is still a hobby for me but I would really like to make it a full-time career, with my own studio in five years’ time.
