MA: Hello gents.. how is everyone doing today? We are very excited to be featuring you on our platform.

We’re great! Thanks for featuring us.

MA: Before we get started, can you please introduce us to the members of The Tazers, tell us where in SA you are from and how you all met to form the band The Tazers?

Hi! We’re The Tazers, a 3 piece psychedelic rock band outta’ Johannesburg.
Jethro is our frontman/guitarist/lead singer. When he’s not organising events or writing and performing music with us he’s a sound engineer/producer for a local media company. Guido is our bass man. He’s been juggling studies, our EP tour and bartending at Hell’s Kitchen for the last few months like a champ, so buy him a drink cause he’s earned it. Tim is our drummer/backup vocalist. He also works at Big House with Jethro editing videos & creating content and plays in two other bands because he’s a lil stage whore (Tim wrote this).

Jethro and Tim started The Tazers in Port Elizabeth with a very different configuration of musicians. We shuffled through a bunch of members until a friend by the name of Wally graciously introduced us to Guido – who has become an integral part of who we are as a band now. Ps. Wally also designed our latest cover art for Love Machine. Thanks bro – you’re a legend.

MA: What are your influences and inspirations as a band to the ’sound’ that you create? Do you look up to international artists for inspiration?

We’re influenced by so many artists it’s difficult to choose who to leave out. When we were recording our latest EP we listened to bands like: SKATERS, Temples, All Them Witches, Pond, Portugal The Man, QOTSA & the likes.

We definitely look up to international artists but it’s important to remember that the playing field has been levelled (at least a little bit) regarding recording technology and the means to promote your material all over the world with the internet. South African music has so much to offer and there are so many people locally that inspire us too.

MA: Can you give us a short background on the name The Tazers?

It’s electrifying. Like a knife in a toaster. That’s all there is to it.

MA: What have been some of your highlights as a band?

Playing on festival stages like: Oppikoppi, Mieliepop, Rocking the Daisies & Lush to name a few. At our first Gtown show opening for Shadowclub back in the day we were flashed during our set. We’ve built up quite a big list of great experiences together it’s hard to narrow it down.

MA: Our local scene has been growing positively over the past few years… What are your thoughts on our local music scene at the moment and if there is anything you wish to see happen differently?

The music scene is pretty fucking rad as it is. Being in a small country like South Africa, there’s room for bands and organisers to get along with each other.

It would great if there were more live venues country-wide. All bands could benefit from having a wider variety of places to play.

MA: Are there any local acts that you think need a special mention?

Radio 123, Jonny Cradle, Southern Wild,

MA: You will be playing at Park Acoustics 8th birthday this month… Are you excited for this gig? What can we expect from your live set on the 21st May?

YES, very excited. A Ballsy, Bluesy and Bitchin’ performance.

MA: Anything that you guys are currently working on that we would be interested in hearing about?

We’re currently working on a few things TBA soon. Writing an album is our main concern at this point though.

MA: Where can we follow you on Social media?

MA: Thanks for your time guys…!!

Thank you!! See you soon
