Ricardo Da Costa is one of South Africa’s pioneer dance/house music DJ’s/producers. He will be one of the acts playing at the very first Tremor Music Festival in SA, alongside a host of amazing local acts. We had a short chat with Ricardo ahead of the festival, this is what he had to say:
MA: Hello Ricardo, rad to be chatting to you, how you doing today?
Lovely thank you!
MA: Do you mind starting with a quick 101 on who Ricardo da Costa is? Where in SA are you from
and how did you get started in the music scene?
I’m a DJ, Promoter, Restauranteur, Husband, Father. I love golf, poker, my favourite colour is blue and a make an awesome seafood paella.
Started out in music about 24 years ago out of the pure love… Never thought I would make a career out of it, but it just goes to show if you passionate about something & not scared to dream, these things can happen.
MA: What are some of your musical influences?
Depeche Mode, The Goodmen, Erick Morillo, Harry Romero, Gypsy Kings
MA: Do you have any major highlights in your musical career thus far?Playing to over a million people at the Essen German Love Parade was special
MA: What are your thoughts of our local music scene at the moment?
Better than its ever been before in terms of quality of music being produced, the think economically, its difficult to do the type of productions and events that we should be having at this point in time.
MA: Any acts/bands/artists that you think need a special mention?
Sun L Musician – Does more deeper house, but pretty really talented.
MA: You will be performing at Tremor Festival. Are you excited for this gig? What can we expect to hear from you in your set?
Cant wait, the hype is undeniable… My set is going to consist of pure dance floor energy, an uplifting experience.
MA: Anything else you currently working on that we may be interested in?Events, quite a few of them… and I might be opening a beach club next year.
MA: Where can people follow you on Social Media?
