Interview: JAZZUELLE
MA: Hey dude, nice to finally be speaking to you!! Are you well?
Good thanks, thank you for having me…
MA: Do you mind giving us a quick introduction to who JAZZUELLE is, where do you come from and how did you get interested in music?
Jazzuelle is Thando Tshoma, born and bred in Cape Town, living in Jozi right now. Im an electronic music producer/dj and signed on Get Physical and Lazy Days Recordings
MA: Besides DJ’ing, production is a huge part of what you do. How and when did production become such a big part of your life?
It pretty much started the same time I started playing shows man, I was and still am very eager to discover and to make my own interpretation of electronic music
MA: What were some of your musical influences growing up?
Shit I had a lot, I cant really remember right now, so much has happened but definitely listened to a lot of Steve Reich, Juan Atkins, Blake Baxter etc but my influenced varied a lot from reggae, downtempo, techno to deep house, was never really caught up with genres, I just listened to what I liked…
MA: We are in September and it has been one hell of a good your your JAZZUELLE!! What have been some of your highlights of 2015?
So much man, heading to Europe for the first time playing alongside guys like Kink, Tale Of Us, Nicole Moudaber, Eats Everything, Nakadia, Claptone, Noir etc, was also an honor playing with the Get Physical team in Barcelona, they made me feel at home man, and I guess that’s why I sticked with them.
MA: What are your thoughts on the current house scene?
Its growing, and ‘’evolving”… lot of good guys coming out of the underground, sticking to their guns, guys like Bruce Loko, Da Capo and so on…
MA: Are there any guys in the scene that you think deserve a shoutout for the good that they do for the industry?
Oh yes mosdef, lots man, everyone does their part in the scene, I cant really pin point everyone, I don’t think that’s important, but everyone does their part I think
MA: You will be back in Pretoria to play at your first Trio Nova event…. Are you excited for your set? What can we expect from you and your set?
OH YES !!! Very keen for this, its my first time so don’t know what to expect, but as usual, expect the unexpected from my side, but im super keen
