  • Hey Adelle… it is such a pleasure to be featuring you guys on the site!! How you doing today?

I’m great, thanks for the feature!

  • Before we get started, can you please introduce us to Adelle Nqeto the musician… Where in SA do you come from & how you got interested in music?

I’m originally from the Eastern Cape, but I live in Pretoria now. I’ve always been interested in music- my family are music lovers so I’ve had music all around me for as long as I can remember. I was in choirs, and church bands growing up, so it’s always been there.

  • What are some of your musical inspirations?

There are tons, but I’d say singer-songwriters- Joan Armatrading, Elton John, John Mayer, Jon Foreman, to the indie rock that I listened to as a teenager, to Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Miles Davis. Writers and books that I read also really inspire me musically. It’s all in there somewhere, I think.

  • Our local scene has been growing positively over the past few years… What are your thoughts on our local music scene at the moment and if there is anything you wish to see happen differently?

Yeah, it’s exciting and it’s definitely growing. I hope people will collaborate more, and learn that we create the music scene together, rather than trying to go at it alone.

  • Are there any local acts that you think need a special mention?

Hmm, I like Nakhane, Ben Dey and the Concrete Lions, Josh Kempen, LUMA, Go Barefoot, Bye Beneco.

  • You are performing at the next Park Acoustics event. Are you excited for this gig? What can we expect from your set?

Yeah, it’s always nice to play in Pretoria! We’re excited, because it’s the first time a lot of people will be hearing songs from my EP, and I’ll have a fuller band setup, not just my solo set.

  • Anything that you guys are currently working on that we would be interested in hearing about?

At the moment, the focus is really launching my EP “Lights” and playing places I’ve never played before too, so, a lot more shows!

  • Where can we follow you on Social media?

Make sure you get down to Park Acoustics this weekend to catch the talented Adelle Nqeto, alongside a host of talented musicians.. This will def be a fun day out!!
