As its the last Thursday of the Month, you should be making your way down to Arcade Empire for the KAKfunny Sessions. This month you can catch Nina Hastie, Dave Levinsohn, Ntosh Madlingozi and Skhumba Hlophe for night of laughs and good time. We caught up with Nina Hastie for a little chat, this is what she has to say:
MA: Tell us how you got started in comedy?
I wanted to be famous and couldn’t afford records to dj.
MA: Do you find it more difficult being a lady in the comedy game?
Comedy is difficult, whether you’re a man or a woman. 90% of comedy is knowing who you are. That is hard work and it is difficult. The game is also hard. Luckily I have a manager now.
MA: What can we expect from your up-and-coming show at KakFunny Sessions this Thursday at Arcade Empire?
Sex drugs and rock and roll
MA: As far as we know, you are part of the organizers of KakFunny…is this true and if so, tell us a bit more about the concept
Yes, Kakfunny is half nina half arcade empire. It is a comedy brand we are developing, but for now, it just takes the form of monthly comedy installations on the last Thursday of every month.
MA: Who is Nina Hastie offstage?
I like crocheting, and I spend a lot of time with my family. I like cooking, and reading. I also like a good live music show.
MA: Any other interesting projects you currently working on?
YES! My one woman show that happens on 8,9,10 August at Main Street Life (Maboneng, JHB) at the Pop Art Theatre. R80 a ticket. Tickets for sale at www.popartcentre.co.za
MA: Who is your favorite person to make fun of?
MA: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
On a beach in the Caribbean as a best selling author, comedian, and tv celebrity from SA.
MA: Where can people follow you?
