We had a quick chat with Jade ahead of her playing at the Big House Beer Craft festival this Saturday, in Irene. In the process i trolled her Facebook page to get a better understand of who she is, this is what i found out:
“I’m a small-town girl who moved to the big city in search of anything and everything that expands the soul, and uhm… a few things that don’t.”
“There’s a whole lot out there in terms of music you should be funneling into your eardrums, settings you should be soaking up, spaces you should be ingesting food and beverage… you know, those finer things that get your heart pounding, feet stomping and smiling from temple to temple. It’s my mission to sift through the vastness of it all and only relay the parts of it that reel me in hardest – to you.”
“What’s more, is I like to express myself, about whatever it is that’s on my mind. Of course everything I say is biased, as it’s my own opinion, so take it all with a pinch of salt and a slice of lemon. I don’t aim to offend, but I sometimes do. If you are sexist, homophobic, racist or just a plain arsehole, don’t bother with this site at all – otherwise I’m sure we’ll all get along juuuust fine.”
Take a look at the quick interview we did with her:
Give us a short idea of who you are and how you got started?
Since when I was leeettle I was exposed to ridiculously good music through my brother’s bedroom wall – Jimi, Pearl Jam, Bob the Marley and all of their mates. I guess I just kind of got a little ‘obsessed’ with always finding ‘the best music out there.’ I was constantly making mixtapes for my friends and lovers, (I’m not a hooker – I’m talking over an extended period of time 😉 ) and then I thought well everyone has a damned blog in this world… what a pretty little bandwagon!! So, now I have a music/entertainment blog and I got asked to do a show on The Grind Radio on Mondays called Bitta This Bitta That – I think the name kind of explains it.
Describe your style of music and performance in 5 words..
IT MAKES YOU FEEL SOOOOO GOOD!
What can we expect from you at the Big House Beer Craft?
I always end up at a festival wishing they’d play something ‘happier!’ So I’m making a playlist that can be described as a ‘summer soulgasm,’ if I must put it into words. There’ll be a couple oldies in there, some upbeat electro-indie make you smile from eye to eye kinda stuff.
Anything you working on that we might be interested in?
Agh – there are a few things wriggling in a pipe-line, but nothing I’m allowed to talk about
Where can we follow you?
